What is anxiety and how do we treat it?
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is a perfectly normal and natural reaction of the body to the stressful situations it goes through. Anxiety states have the biological purpose of keeping us awake in the face of the danger and mobilize our physical, emotional, and mental resources and efforts. Without anxiety and fear, the human species could not survive. Anxiety’s “normality” is manifested when the whole mind-body system is assembled to solve any challenge of any nature and to adapt to changes. But this immediate natural reaction to a burden in your life becomes a problem in itself. It bears the name of clinical anxiety itself if you permanently have the anxiety alert state-specific, even in situations when you have no reasons to. The alert state of the body called “fight or flight” does not leave you even when you are well and when everything is excellent in your life. To agitate and dramatize a situation that would not require so many emotional, physical, and mental resources on your part leads clearly to an anxiety disorder or acute or chronic anxiety.
Anxiety symptoms
The symptoms of anxiety include: fatigue, constant worry and strain, disproportionate reactions to stimulations, longer or shorter episodes of depression, muscle tension, insomnia, abdominal pain, chest pain, increased or irregular heartbeat, arrhythmia, perspiration, headache, etc. Shortly, a strenuous, tense life, in which everything that happens to you becomes a cause of concern.
How do we treat it?
For anxiety you need personalized psychotherapeutic treatment, but first of all, the awareness that you are an anxious person. Then, these signals that your body transmits do not come from an organic condition of the head, stomach, heart, intestines, but are reactions of all these organs to the nervous disorder inside of ,your body when negative thoughts of fear, alertness and worry that control you for no reason end up unbalancing the nervous system.
